Intern Spotlight: Arkin Kathuria
An alum of COOKFOX’s internship program, Arkin returned to the studio this spring for his sixth and final co-op as part of his studies at the University of Waterloo School of Architecture, where he will graduate with a Bachelor of Architecture Studies this summer.
During this most recent stint, Arkin supported a project he first began contributing to in January of 2025: the renovation of a theater of a private school in Dobbs Ferry, New York. Notably, he initiated and developed a detailed Revit model of the existing campus, carefully translating 1970s architectural drawings into a fully realized BIM model to support both internal design work and consultant coordination.
This spring, Arkin gained new experience working on a competitive RFP for an adaptive reuse project in Manhattan. He coordinated with senior staff, supporting high level design concepts by researching the project’s history and cultural contexts. He also contributed to the studio’s mission by assisting with the Justice League, a group that explores the intersection of architecture and social equity and facilitates talks, presentations, and guest lectures.
“Being able to work at COOKFOX for a cumulative 12 months during my undergraduate degree has been nothing short of a privilege,” Arkin says. “From the office culture & mission, to the work, to the many members of the studio that I have formed professional and personal connections with.”
Arkin will return to Ontario this summer to finish his degree at Waterloo. In September, he returns to New York City to begin a Masters in Architecture at Parsons School of Design.
We’re grateful for Arkin’s contributions over the past year and a half: while we’re sad to see him leave, we’re happy to know he’ll be back in New York soon!
