Intern Spotlight: Ron Caldwell

Studio News
Read time: short

A newcomer to COOKFOX’s internship program, Ron joined the studio this summer for his first professional internship experience. He hails from Howard University, where he will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture next spring.

During his time at COOKFOX, Ron helped a multi-family residential project reach IFC. He assisted in mass-producing lighting diagrams to supplement RCPs in Revit, as well as supported unit kitchen and bathroom design and construction documentation. Ron further assisted with a construction administration addendum and attended a VMU site visit to review the precast concrete paneling and window structures planned for the development.

Beyond project drafting, Ron was an active contributor to the studio’s Healthy Materials team, helping curate the studio’s materials library by organizing sustainable options. He also conducted research on ethical sourcing, offering guidance on international labor statuses, human rights violations, and raw material import tracking. This sustainability research culminated in a spreadsheet of healthy alternatives to standard interior insulation, which will serve as a valuable resource for future COOKFOX pilot projects.

We wish Ron all the best as he returns to Washington DC this fall!
