Tenetia Mack, NOMA, WELL AP

Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

As Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Tenetia leads COOKFOX’s efforts to cultivate an open and inclusive environment within the studio and the community at large. She is an advocate for regenerative, equitable and inclusive practices, and is guided by the belief that fostering people-centered, knowledge-based learning opportunities within the studio is an essential component of sustainable design.

Since joining COOKFOX in 2020, Tenetia has developed programs and initiatives that promote mentorship, enhance recruitment and support retention. She also partners with schools around the country, creating opportunities for students to learn about architecture, sustainability and biophilic design. She considers COOKFOX projects like Betances Residences in the Bronx—a senior affordable housing development that achieved Passive House certification—to be precisely the kind of work that helps move us toward a more equitable future.

Tenetia graduated with a degree in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati. As one of the first Black female architects licensed in Ohio, Tenetia seeks to ensure the next generation of design professionals from underrepresented backgrounds receive support and encouragement as they navigate through their careers. She believes that addressing racial, gender and economic inequalities is a commitment of not only weeks and years, but of a lifetime.

Outside of the studio, Tenetia is involved in community-building initiatives. She is an AIANY D+I Committee Special Projects Lead and member of NOMA’s New York Coalition of Black Architects. She lives in Rockland County, New York.
