Associate

Gaurav Sardana is an Associate and Project Architect at COOKFOX Architects in New York, having joined the studio in 2019. He has contributed to a diverse range of scales and typologies, and he is currently involved in the construction administration of Terminal Warehouse, a landmarked adaptive-reuse project that is transforming the historic warehouse into Class A office space in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood. The project is notable for its carbon-conscious approach to reducing embodied carbon through material re-use. He is also currently designing a mixed-use retail and residential tower in Austin, Texas, drawing inspiration from the limestone escarpments around the region.

Prior to COOKFOX, Gaurav worked with Bjarke Ingels Group on several public-interest projects. This includes the East Side Coastal Resiliency project in the Lower East Side, which created flood-protection infrastructure as the foundation for additional public space in New York. He also designed flexible interiors and pop-up architecture for Google’s Bay View campus.

Gaurav’s independent work includes shortlisted competition proposals for the Driverless Future Challenge NYC and BMW Guggenheim Lab Mumbai. While at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor, he was a Dow Sustainability Fellow and KC Mahindra Education Trust Fellow. Alongside his architectural practice, Gaurav has contributed to various design-culture forums such as the Aga Khan Planning and Building Services, the Urban Design Forum, and the Indo-German Urban Mela.
