Portrait of Zack Maurer

Zack joined COOKFOX in 2012 as an intern while working towards his master’s degree at Columbia University GSAPP, joining the studio full-time upon graduating two years later. Zack is currently helping lead 760 Madison, a high-rise located in Manhattan’s historic Upper East Side. The project will be the future home to the Armani flagship retail space and residences. Additionally, Zack is overseeing the completion of 25 Park Row, a mixed-use skyscraper in the Financial District of New York. The building incorporates biophilic design elements and completes the “urban room” of City Hall Park. Having been on the project team since the beginning of schematic design, his current responsibilities include coordination between the owners, contractors, and consultants during construction.

Some of Zack’s earlier projects include 550 Vanderbilt and 535 Carlton, two residential buildings in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. Zack helped develop the façade and massing of 535 Carlton during schematic design, later shifting to work on unit layouts and MEP coordination on 550 Vanderbilt through the construction documents phase. Additionally, Zack works on a small team of COOKFOX studio members to lead the implementation of Revit standards in the office and maintain consistent, efficient utilization of the platform.

Zack’s interest in architecture was sparked from an early age, working with his hands to build furniture and models. As a native of rural Pennsylvania but current resident of New York City, Zack believes that biophilic design is an effective way of sustaining a connection to nature in any setting.
