Zach Craun, LEED GA, WELL AP

Zach joined COOKFOX in 2012 and has since applied his knowledge to a wide range of projects. His past leadership contributions include 150 Charles Street, the De La Salle Academy, 100 Vandam Street, Footprint Power Salem, Cora Tampa, Parterre Miami, multiple single-family residential residences in the Hamptons, and COOKFOX’s studio at 250 West 57th Street.

He is currently leading the design teams for a net-zero single family residence and 55-acre subdivision in Sag Harbor, NY as well as the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music, a museum and events venue at Monmouth University in Long Branch, NJ. Both are constructed of mass-timber and are targeting low operational carbon values via renewable energy sources.

At COOKFOX, Zach values the firm’s dedication to creating architecture that emphasizes context, craft and environmental responsibility. In addition to his architectural contributions, he heads the firm’s AIA 2030 Committee and Green Team, both internal groups responsible for researching and implementing sustainable practices. He also participates in the firm’s Healthy Materials Team.

Outside of the studio, he is the Chair of the Facilities Committee of the Board of Trustees of the De La Salle Academy and a Board Member of the Fontainebleau Association. He has presented his thoughts and work in a variety of forums including the AIA Center for Architecture, Greenbuild, ASCA, and as guest critic and lecturer at several Universities. His academic and professional work has been published in a number of publications and journals; most recently as part of the working committee in the white paper by ASHRAE, AIA, USGBC, IES & DOE for Net Zero Multi-Family Residential Buildings.

Prior to COOKFOX, he worked for 8 years with Schwartz/Silver in Boston, where he contributed towards academic buildings, libraries and campus plans, as well as local and federal government projects. Before becoming an Architect, he worked as a carpenter on single family homes in Indiana.
